Abstract
Public debate often portrays college campuses as deeply divided over diversity and affirmative action. Drawing on conjoint experiments with students and faculty at seven universities, this book examines preferences concerning undergraduate admissions and faculty recruitment across race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic background, and partisanship. It finds broad practical support for diversity and substantially less polarization than conventional accounts suggest.
